**Accepting new clients**
Hello! My name is Kiersten and I am a counsellor here at Balance Psychological Services. I am honoured to be a part of this team and look forward to accepting new clients as I work towards becoming a Provisional Psychologist summer of 2023.
Why don't I start out by introducing myself a little? I grew up on a farm with a variety of animals which fostered the deep love and respect I have for them today. When I'm not in the office you can find me snuggling on the couch with my beloved Leonberger's Hudson and Tucker, enjoying quality time with my friends and family over summer bonfires, or watching my favorite tv shows for a good laugh. I have been riding horses since I was three years old and still ride to this day. I have a strong connection to horses and dogs, and I am beyond thrilled to be able to offer animal and equine-assisted therapy through Balance!
My belief about therapy resonates with a quote from Edith Eger, who said, "when you change your life, it isn’t to become the new you. It’s to become the real you—the one-of-a-kind diamond that will never exist again and can never be replaced." I believe that inner peace can be achieved when we identify our goals and shed patterns and beliefs that do not serve us for the better. My clients describe me as warm, authentic, funny, and passionate. I am a great fit for anyone who enjoys having a therapist that brings genuineness and care to the conversation while infusing humour at every appropriate moment.
My therapeutic style adapts to what you need. I allow my clients' space to explore their realities and deepen the conversation by asking questions that help provide insight into patterns that may be hindering you as well as potential blind spots. As your therapist, I cannot change your problems; however, I can help change your relationship to those problems by helping you unearth your hidden strengths and shift what holds power over you.

Why me?
"Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued" - Brene Brown.
I live by this quote in my practice. I know how scary coming to therapy can be because I have been a client myself. That being said, I also know how liberating it can be when you have a safe place to discover yourself. Not everything in therapy is pretty, there are tough conversations and hard truths we may have to rumble with, but the major benefit of therapy is that you won't have to go through that alone. I want my clients to know that when you sit with me, I am ready to listen and meet you where you are at in your journey.
If I sound like someone you might want to sit down with, I would love to hear from you!
