Meet Ellen
MACP., Registered Psychologist

Outside the office, I enjoy camping, horseback riding, snowboarding and spending time with family and friends. Being outside, especially in the mountains, gives me peace. I have been a horse owner since 1979, competing in various equine disciplines since 1984, as well as participation and Leadership in the Canadian Pony Club, equestrian vaulting and Mounted Games Association of Canada. I was a Canadian Prince Phillip Games team member, competing in Kentucky, USA, and the Canadian Mounted Games Team twice, competing in France and Belgium. For 15 years, I have worked with a non-profit agency supporting children and youth in foster care and residential group care as a front-line program manager and currently as a Clinician.

As a Registered Psychologist, I am skilled at supporting individuals living with complex trauma, attachment deficits, difficulties with emotion regulation, and self-harming behaviours. I use client-centred, attachment, and strength-based approaches, incorporating Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Play therapy, Theraplay, Equine Assisted Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Indigenous Tools for Living, Mindfulness-based approaches, and Ecopsychology into my work with clients.

I am committed to supporting individuals in identifying their own unique inner strengths and capacity for resilience through an attachment lens focused on building and strengthening relationships. I understand that people are the experts in their own lives and offer specific, individualized tools that they can utilize throughout their lives. I offer a safe and supportive space to explore emotions and experiences while creating meaning and purpose in your life.

I work with children, teens, and adults, including first responders, veterans, and children/youth connected to Children's services.

Favourite Quote

"I found my heart upon a mountain I did not know I could climb, and I wonder how many other pieces of myself are secreted away in places I judge I cannot go." - Laurel Bleadon-Maffei.

This quote resonates with me because I believe we are just one experience away from being able to see the beauty in us and in the world.
