Hi there! I’m Katelyn, my pronouns are she/her, and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist here in Alberta.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted a job where I could support others in a meaningful way. When personal experiences with grief and loss and mental health challenges during my undergrad led me to seek out my own support, I quickly realized how powerful and deeply supportive the therapeutic relationship can be. This led me to pursue my own career as a counselling psychologist.
During my Master's degree, my capstone research focused on understanding how experiences of grief are impacted by ambiguous loss when a loved one goes missing. This work sparked my passion for supporting individuals who are experiencing grief and loss and has provided me with a unique understanding of how to support those who feel that their grief has been misunderstood, minimized, or dismissed.
My work focuses on supporting clients aged 16 and older as they navigate grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation. My practice is also supportive for folks who are part of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and those who are exploring their gender identity and sexual orientation.
Additionally, I am passionate about working with individuals and partners who have experienced pregnancy loss, birth trauma, fertility struggles, health complications such as endometriosis, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. To support this work, I draw on several different approaches based on your unique needs, primarily Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Polyvagal and Attachment Theory, somatic-based practices, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
I know firsthand that finding a therapist and deciding to jump into therapy can be very difficult and vulnerable, but I’m so glad that you’re here. In my sessions, my goal is to create a space that feels safe enough for you to show up as your true self, feeling seen, heard, and supported. I truly believe that you are
the expert in your own life and that my role is to walk beside you as you discover ways to nurture your inherent strengths and capacity for healing, learning, and growth.
