What is Exomind?

Exomind is a non-invasive brain stimulation technology designed to activate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation, emotional processing, motivation, attention, and cognitive function.

Using BTL's patented technology, built on the foundation of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Exomind stimulates targeted regions of the brain without surgery, needles, medication, or downtime.

Many clients describe treatment as comfortable and relaxing while experiencing gentle muscle contractions around the scalp during each session.

Who Can Benefit From Exomind?

Exomind may be appropriate for individuals experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Depression

  • Low mood

  • Chronic stress

  • Burnout

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Brain fog

  • Challenges with focus and attention

Every person's mental health journey is unique. Our admin team will help determine whether Exomind is an appropriate option based on your individual needs and goals.

Exomind & Therapy: A Whole Person Approach

At Balance, we believe there is no single solution for mental health.

For many people, lasting healing comes from combining multiple evidence-based approaches. Exomind can complement psychological therapy by supporting the brain while counselling supports emotional processing, coping skills, relationships, and long-term resilience.

Your treatment plan may include:

  • Individual therapy

  • EMDR

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Somatic approaches

  • Mindfulness

  • Exomind brain stimulation

  • Referrals to additional healthcare providers when appropriate

Our goal is always to recommend the combination of treatments that best supports your wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Exomind the same as therapy?

No. Exomind is a brain stimulation treatment that may complement psychotherapy. While therapy focuses on thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships, Exomind works by stimulating specific areas of the brain involved in mood and cognitive function.

Can I continue therapy while receiving Exomind?

Absolutely. In fact, many individuals choose to combine Exomind with counselling as part of a comprehensive mental health treatment plan.

Is Exomind painful?

Most clients report that treatment is comfortable. During the session, you'll feel rhythmic tapping sensations and gentle contractions of the scalp muscles as the device delivers magnetic stimulation.

Is Exomind right for everyone?

Exomind is not appropriate for every individual. Certain medical conditions or implanted medical devices may make treatment unsuitable.

Before booking your Exomind treatment, you will go through a thorough screening to ensure Exomind is a safe and appropriate option for you.

How many treatments will I need?

Treatment plans involve a series of 6 sessions (either 2/week for 3 weeks, or 1/week for 6 weeks), allowing cumulative stimulation to support positive changes in brain activity. Maintenance treatments may be booked after the initial 6 week series if indicated.

Our admin team will discuss the recommended treatment schedule during your consultation.

Is Exomind available at all four Balance Psych locations?

No. Exomind is available exclusively at our Edmonton North (#19 11354 119 Street) location.
